Argos: Retake the Islands

[:1]

I have tried this one numerous ways and each time it has ended in failure. Is there a strategy that works well on this quest (as egypt)? I tried building an army to defend against the blobs (usually a lot of archers which is a problem I explain later) both islands send out after a few minutes but they just do not stop coming. Once the first wave comes there is usually a blob from each island every two minute or so afterwards. The last attempt I made I actually got to age 4 and built up a decent size warelephantforce and invaded one of the islands... holy crap. There was literally no room to move. Besides dropping 25 or so units on my island constantly their own island was packed full of towers and 70 or more units mixed with elites as well and them spawning replacements non-stop as I kill them.

I also tried going straight for triremes and then fire ships to stop the transports but this has not worked either, they take to long to kill considering the proximity of the islands. Every game they keep their transports in the narrow channels between my island and theirs and then build towers thatharassmy ships. This would be anuisanceonly but on top of that tons of archers line the shore waiting for the transport and kill any ships and villagers on my side I try to have build my own towers or forts, all the while overloading my island with tons of guys. Even if I do get some towers built the blobs make insanely quick work of them.

What am I missing? I may not be the best player but the thought that it might be my level (23) and gear makes me want to jab my eyes out with a spork. I cannot stand anymore timed missions orrepeatablequests as it is.

|||just destroy enemies dock very fast and keep them unbuild|||Such a grind of a strategy. The biggest problems stem from the only way to add difficulty it seems is give the enemy more of head start.|||

I just tried the destroy the docks thing because I thought it worth a shot and they build them in the same place every time. Even then, guys would just show up on my island. The only thing I can assume is a transport got loose some how and I did not see it but I could never actually find it either even though I sent a small fleet looking for it. It seems like the strategy could work but the sheer amount of ships needed is a bit of a deterrent. I just do not know, I smell a bit of AI cheating here heh :)

Knowing that they had no docks or ships that I could find, but guys kept showing up, I stationed some ships along my shore and still never saw that *** transport.

|||Owning the sea is indeed key to victory here. Build a massive fleet and destroy the docks asap. Then, keep patrolling the enemy shorelines with your triremes continuesly. Kill any villagers you might see gathering at the edge of a forest.

I remembering doing this one and I seem to remember it was fairly easy for me, I dont remember which one it was though.

I know I ran into one quest on the water and the enemy builds up tons and tons of boats, what I do is use a bunch of Fire ships and often enough surround part of my island with fire ships to stop the incoming transport boats so I can gather a large resource haul.

One of the downsides later on in this game is the almost need to be Age 3 and 4 before you even begin to make noise.
