Quest: Hold The Fort - Stuck

Hey guys, ok I am completely stuck on the quest "Hold the Fort". I have tried resourcing just food and wood initially to jump to tech III, but by the time I am able to get seige weapons to take their base out they have already got siege and are wiping out the fort.

Any advise here is greatly appreciated.

I beated it on the first try, i 'rushed' untill Age 3, built a fortress and spammed Petzhetairois(or whatever their name is) against the enemy, it worked fine :D

Yeah I was the one who helped Nubster, just destroy the 2 siege workshops that they have built away from their down and it will dramatically slow down the time it takes for them to attack.

|||I'm also stuck on this quest. I've tried every approach available. Rushing to build a fortress(walls and towers too), rushing to destroy the enemy(Did not work, their siege units utterly destroy any unit I can produce) And then just plain old building a major defense around the fortress, although that doesn't do anything as the enemy seems to have siege units regardless of whether you destroy their workshops or not. :(|||

I managed to get a stroke of luck. It put me on a map where the fort was located on an island. The only way for them to attack it was to walk along a sand bank across the island.

So I built a few thiremes and put them on watch. Granted they didnt stand a chance with the siege weapons but certainly gave me a chance to get men built up there to mop up a few stragglers.

It's like most other "defend for X amount of time" quests where you're better off just going and killing the CPU instead of defending.
