Hello fellow Aoe players. May you excuse my terribad english (i m belgian).
I have a little problem with the myacenian quest called "Protect our people" wich involve to protect the 2 TC's of 2 allies that don't do anything for their defence. For that you start with 200 of each ressources and a racks.
The problem is : i can't match the power of the very first "special units" i cross path with in the campain (the big shiney ones). They wreck even my hyppa so easily and i can't product enough men to flood them. And a few minuts later when the catapult come and 5 shots the TC's i can't shot them down quickly enough.
I m spec in construct so i tried to drop some bandit towers. They work well against the meatshield but get wrecked as soon as the first catapult arrives. I can't focus the catapult with my men cause the cpu goes mass toxote and decimates all my army in a few seconds.
I don't have tested mass cavalry yet, can it be effective ? What advices / tips have you in mind when it comes to this quest ? Do i need to build directly in my allies bases ?
Looking forward to some nice advices. thank you
Alarios
|||Build your base in theirs instead of where you start...or co-op it|||I remember this quest being too easy. I completed it on my first attempt by just defeating the opponent.|||Just rush the enemy, worked for me :) I used basic spearmen + a bandit summon of 5 more spearmen to destroy their barracks, so they'd only get those "special" units, then I continued to spam them with Hysps~ and destroyed their TC, then just finish off the villagers and it should complete the mission, even before the 30 minutes timer runs out.

have to admit this one is not as easy as others mentioned maybe they tuned the mission after ppl telling it was to easy,
but i do have same problem, cant build fast enough troops to finish him or to defend other towns,
got complete wiped out by first 2 minutes of quest, also by this special units he uses.
I'll give you an easy way, which i suggested to a friend, and helped get him through the quest..
The map has a center pass that connects the two sides, and there are points either side leading to either allied camp, it looks something like this on the map(obviously not as square though).
-------- ------------------------------- --------
-------- ------------------------------- --------
What you should aim to do right near the start is wall in the top most parts of the access points... so it's something like this..
--------====-------------------------------====--------
-------- ------------------------------- --------
Then focus building up a force inside the town on the right, and to a lesser degree a force on the left side also... noting if necessary you can use the interconnecting pass to move units from one side to the other.
Generally the AI focusses more attention to the right side, so most of your attention should be there, just be ready for the occasional attack on the left.
Improve your walls, build towers, build anything that will distract the enemy when the attack comes, use that distraction and flank the enemy to get the catapults, then finish up the guys he has...
Keep at it as long as you need to, them wipe him out...
The walls are the key, keep building em, don't forget to replace them and build a few layers of wall if you feel it helps..
Remember, you're the smarter player, you already have the advantage, take control of the game.. (it's funny i have a friend who has similar issues, but the moment she's in a coop she's a faster rusher than i am - it's a confidence thing)..

Miraculously managed to protect the Town Centres. Maybe the program realized that it's my 17th go at this quest and decided to be nice and not attack the two towns on the side and attack only me! ;D
P.S. Keep building repairers handy in case of desperate rebuilding of the Town Centres!!
Well it's Alarios again.
Thanks for your concern i post for the followers who would know how to pass this very first difficult questin the game. I confirm that rushingthe ennemy TC with spearmen works very well. Don't even try to go tech 2 it's useless, morover the ennemy will tech and spend all his ressources to go tech 2 first so the TC is not covered.
On my first (and only) attempt i went with 12 spearmen and all my villagers used as a meatshield. Got the spearmen focus the TC while my villagers killed ennemies one who were repairing (caution of the repair).
Destroyed TC at 25 min (exactly) left on the counter.
|||i have tried already 5 times with no success for the moment
i will try again tonigh
but if something could post a video it would be really great
|||Hi, I had problems with this quest too, and checked forums here, saw there were more people in the same seat as me.
So what I did (and perfected) was;
All villagers on berries, and created 7 spearmen (and 4 in queue) moved up with my scout to their base (villagers and spearmen followed but stayed a bit outside where the TC couldn't hit them) ran in with scout and built a watch post to tank the TC then stormed in with my troops just hitting the TC.
I destroyed the TC before it teched up and that was before the 26:00 mark. After that I cleaned up villagers and won at 25:35 left.
Yes, I had trouble on this as well. Mainly because they have access to premium units and Age IV tech, which completely overwhelms any number of military units I attempt to shove out. And yes, I've tried rushing.
I'm a decent AOE III online player, so I know how to rush somewhat (it would change from game to game) but the rush fails and I end up dying with 13 minutes left on the clock.
I might just do other quests to try and level up and get more tech.
|||yesterday i finally manage to do it.
The only working tactic is go to rush them:
- put all the villies on the berries
- each time you can create a villy do it
- once the town center queue is filed just build some spearmen
- once that you don't have any more gold, take everybody and rush its town center
you should finish by killing everybody around 25 minutes in the timer
Don't try to compete with him, his units are too strong
|||This took me a couple of attempts also.
I finished it using a method that didnt need rushing to begin with (I didnt even think to try that).
I began with 5 on berries, 5 on wood, 3 on gold and 4 on stone.
I then created two villagers to build.
I first Built two AT on the right village (they attacked it with bandits but got beat by the TC), then repaired the TC.
Whilst this was happening I took one unit off Stone and began building Archer Barracks (after aging).
Then basically spammed archers and also built two towers on the left village, and in my own base.
Then It became a matter of farming wood, gold + Houses of spam archers.
I dumped them in the middle of the map, and had them run the either village that was attacked, and also kept a small number at my base.
It sounds complicated, but to me this way wasnt two hard, you just have to make sure you have towers to repel the first few attacks + build up.
