Quests are too easy

As soon as i hit level 20, i found the quest not challenging any more. Before that i had problems dealing with catapults, otherwise no other concerns.

From level 20 onwards i had ballistae and hippikons. Now every quest follows the same pattern: tech to age 4 and build hippikons and ballistae. Then it's just a steamroll over any army. Ballistae take out the masses and buildings, hippikons defend the siege units and finish off any other unit left.

Not wanting to sound like a complainer, but its getting boring. I dont need to restart any mission, dont have to think about new strategies, just ballistae and hippikons. Maybe in higher levels there will be better quests (i'll be level 30 soon), but right now its boring.

If someone suggests pvp, there arent any players in my tier most of the time.

I agree that quests seem easier to complete as one passes level 20...especially, after getting access to ballistae and hippikons. These are powerful weapons. For a while, I got stuck with the quest to destroy a wonder. After a few tries -- each lasting more than an hour -- I went to my technology tree and made changes, including getting access to the technologies mentioned above. I was able to finally beat the 2, or 3 quests I was having trouble with.

Yes, it is easier, but the choosing of weapon, along with other strategies, is part of the game. For instance, I like using priests to convert enemy troops and villagers. I get free people and weaken the enemy at the same time.

For repeatable quests, I re-play them as Elite. Makes them a bit harder, requiring you to change strategies.

By the way, speaking of catapults, for some reason, they disappeared from the quest to destroy the wonder, after I got the ability to build ballistae and hippikons. That I found kind of weird. May be it is just that I didn't give the chance to the computer (enemy) to create them, as I would start attacking them earlier in the quest.

|||I agree with you, its very easy, but i think its because its only a beta, they are more concern about make it work, than make it hard for us, after all they are fixing the egipcian civilization, and are gonna make another one civ, i'm felling a little bored too, but let's have faith that they will make it hard in the proper time. there is also the fact the not all the player here have the same skill, it's not productive to them if some one can't pass of a mission.|||You decide to play like that rendering the game boring instead of building different units or trying different tactics and then you complain about it being boring? This game is in BETA do you really think that making it difficult for players is of top priority? - I mean come on use your brain.|||

So you're saying, in your games, you play randomly? That makes no sense. In games, people should aspire to be better, instead on playing bad on purpose, because the game is too easy. That will make them sloppy and bad. Quests should be challenging, fun, interesting. Not boring and easy. AI should know how to counter the simplest strategies.

You should use your brain, instead of turning it off when playing the game(because it's too easy).

the hardest quest i've done so far is the Co-op Thelma and Irene ( i think thats the name lol)

was actually freaking hard for some reason, had to restart one time

|||Like Thelma and Louise ;D|||I think that AI over 20 should be harder to defeat, i dont think its so much about quest i think its more about AI.|||All of the quests are way too easy. I think they are doing it on purpose to please the MMO crowd.
|||As an accomplished "age of series" player, I have to accede with the written above. However I profoundly dissagree with general opinion, that the quests should be more challanging. Since an extensive amout of veteran players, including myself, want to indulge in pvp asp. With those easy quests, the road to lvl 40, where one could get involved in some seriuos pvp, is without rocks and thorns, it's actually paved (for me quests usually take enjoyable ~10-15 minutes). Juste a thought ...

As a more "casual" player I actually like the relatively easy (i actually don't find them very easy but at least they're not super-hard) quests. Really hard quests would just have me frustrated and quit, whereas with the way it is now, I can concentrate on building my capital city, etc. This may prove some of your points on attracting the "wrong" kind of player, but as one of them I like it :)

I've played all the Age games too, so I'm not some noob looking to mess things up (I played the computer on Easy or at worst Normal in those games)

|||Hmm, well i think that quests should be based on your style of playing and how smart you play, i mean depending on how you play computer shoud be playing at same degree as you but u shoud always make a step to go in front ... in any games i played ive seen such system, AI based on how users play ... but well hope that one day someone implements that system.|||I agree an adaptive AI sounds most fun. Not sure how fair it is to others in a MMO though.

I recently hit level 20 and i'm beginning to notice this as well. Hippikon are beasts, all i do now is turtle at the start, get my economy going, then build 6 priests, 6 battering rams and the rest of the food supply in Hippikons, i haven't lost a battle since no matter what the enemy throws at me i rofl stomp it.

One of my battering rams can 2 shot towers... and if all 6 of them are beating at a Fortress it dies in like 5 seconds.

It seems like they made siege weapons overpowered... i mean when one battering ram can 2 shot a tower that's pretty op if you ask me (and i only have the +19% damage for the battering ram, so imagine of i had the epic gear equipped). Oh and by the way the towers i'm talking about are the upgraded ones.

I had a bit difficulty with an early game, where the enemy used catapults. I'd say it was a little OP, as it dished out great dmg over a very large area (unrealistic strong by the way). Had to defend 2 town centers.
Else the AI has been extremely passive and boring. The only thing it's good at is launching some "rush" attacks. Problem is it doesn't step it up. It should judge how strong you are, and make a force that can do some dmg, rather than just send small armies. even in late game.
