So far I have been doing a lot of the Argos Quests, but whenever I decide to give an elite quest a try, it is just literally impossible lol.
Also there is a quest called Challenge: Lots of Rogues, which is now a green quest to me, I'm level 27 and I have multiple epic items equiped on my infantry and cavalry.
Anyway, in these quests it seems no matter what build order I do, no matter how many epic items my units have on, the computer just OBLITERATES anything I have. Especially in the quest Lots of Rogues, I can literally max out my unit count and still the enemy units just obliterate my army like my units care all wearing loin cloths.
Am I doing something wrong, or are some quests literally just impossible to solo?
Are you talking about LoR on elite mode?
Because, if I recall correctly, back in the beta the normal version of that quest was not so hard. Just train a few prodromos to kill the siege weapons and let all you villagers build fortresses on the hills. Add some archers and train some hypas just to engage in melee the enemy while the fortresses fire at them. It should work.
I'm having difficulty with some of the repeatable quests as well.
However, about 'Challenge: Lots of Rogues';
I have found that a good tactic is to have the scout wait at the top of the cliffs next to their spawn point. When they come, the catapults will attack your scout. Keep him running back and forth to dodge the rocks. Depending on how well you can simultaneously control the scout and manage your production buildings, the catapults will lag far behind the main force, and give your basic army plenty of time to kill them off before the heavy-hitting catapults come. I found that infantry and ballistae were a sufficient defence.
Note:I have only done this on regular mode. I'm not sure if it works as well on Elite.
|||Make sure you haven't encountered the bug that makes the normal quest have elite difficulty (abandon and re-accept).
re: Lots of Rogues
It's easy on normal. Send the villagers around your town hall to build houses for supply. Use the rest to make fortresses at the very end of the valley. Boost the fortress build speed with the priestess and build more to boost train speed on the forts. At the same time, build more villagers to increase your building speed and build whatever Age 3 fortress unit you have out of the big fortress in the rear. You should be able to pump out a lot of war elephants and special units (desert archers for me) by the time they strike. Use the villagers to keep building forts behind your main forts after the attack stars. Put your 6 war elephants way off to the side, so that when the enemy attacks your forts, you flank and destroy the catapults immediately. Hit the rams next and the rest is cake.
On elite, it's super hard. You need to destroy the cats and then retreat your elephants from the somatophylakes while also trying to get damage in on the rams, which will absolutely devastate your buildings. You can try to chaos convert some of the champs, but I've never been able to get anything other than an occasional somatophylake. I've gotten somewhat close by using some elite consumables, but never actually beaten it. You might need to build armories and rush armor.
|||My 2 cents.
I love this quest and play it each time its available, on single player you can spam elephants on egyptian, yeah fair enough. you can also do it with camels because the stables are quick to build, send 3 villagers to make full houses. 3 to make guard towers around town centre i spam about 8 stables and highlight them all and queue them so each time one is finished i have more in queue, send some to side to kill catapults,
task the guard towers with a gap in a horseshoe shape and they will build one after the other, with houses keep an eye on it see if their all being built, when you have 8 stables you over run them when they attack your guard towers.
you can make extra town centres around the one you start with but beware if the original one falls game over.
|||I honestly havent seen the need for Elite quest in this game as the reward is barely better than the original.
While on the same token, I never could do Elite quest, theirs just a problem when 20 villagers can take out an army of 50.
