Cyprus Quest, defeat Marion, how hard? O.o

[:1]

Defeat Marion is the last of the "defeat quests" I believe and by far the hardest. Just had my *** handed to me on a platter playing as the Egyptions. I managed to destory the first two fortresses but not manage to break through the walls in front of it. The number of calvary and seige they ahve defending is ridiculous. I managed to hold off there attacks for ages and make a few of my own but then they just sent hundreds of horses and about twenty ballistas into my base and I eventually crumbled. Has anyone got any helpful strategies for this mission?

Thanks in advance :)

Are you doing this quest in coop or on your own? Doing this quest with a friend would be much easier and takes less time to complete.

I finished it on my own on the second try, but I was level 40 and half geared when I completed it.

- Spam a few fortresses at the choke points, wall off if needed.

- Build a huge army including Ballista/Catapults (very important!!).

- Win.

|||Well I was attempting to do it on my own, as noone was clicking on it in the LFG tab. I'm level 36 atm so I guess that last 4 levels might help. I had the fortresses up and I was using desert swordsmen, armoured elephants and pantalaloons or what ever they are called.|||

Not gonna be able to give a particularly uber indepth hardcore strategy as I'm just not that very good at this game, but I did this yesterday and after failing very hard on the first try, I basically just bunkered up with a couple castles defending my base and worked on aging up, training war elephants and upgrading said units.

I also made a few Priests of Set to heal my elephants inbetween attacks on my base. Then when I felt I was strong enough with fully upgraded elephants I just began with taking out the 2 front castles, quickly retreating when both were down so as to not lose many or any units at all. Let my priests heal back the health lost on my units then quickly attacking one of the two side bases the AI has producing units and completely taking it out and kill as many villagers as I could so as to prevent AI rebuilding fast.

After that, same as before retreated with units, priests heal up, then back to the same side base I had just taken out to destroy anything rebuilt so the AI cannot pump out such redicilous numbers of units. Then I went for the second base on the other side, took out everything there too and went back a few minutes later with fresh units to destroy anything rebuilt.

By this point I had amassed so many resources I just killed off most of my villagers and produced even more war elephants(think I had 42 fully upgraded ones with epic gear) and went for the final push against the heart of the AI's base where I managed to crush the whole thing with maybe 3-4 elephant casualties.

One thing to be mindful of in this mission is to pay very much attention to your own base cause on my first go while I was busy attacking the AI, 3 Ballistas somehow snuck by my army ignoring the fact I was attacking him and completely obliterated EVERY single building/villager I had, and by the time I noticed it was too late :p.

Anyhow, Quick as possible Age 4 and keep training elephants/upgrading them and keeping them alive is what I did and they were unstoppable. Prolly a ton of better ways to do this but hey, it worked for me and I love them elephants! :)

Elephants are good, although I find the normal ones die way to quickly if not upgraded, so I use the armoured advisor ones, I'm currently using an uncommon one but I guess it might be a good idea to try and find an epic version

It's actually really easy.

Get to age 4, double wall your base, make a small mobile defending force.

Make Palindones

make 6 cheriot archers 2 camels.

Combine with palindrones.

Move to the edge of the palindones range while moving your units around and press the shield (defend)

Click on towers, walls and buildings with your paldindone selected.

You win.

Palindones *the huge siege rock throwers at age 4" have insane range, and can 1 hit most buildings, naked they can 3 hit fortress's and townhalls. 2 with half way decent eq. On D one can kill 3-7 enemys per shot. It does high AoE damage, and they do like 4 times the damage of balistia's.

You can easily outrange the fortress's, and the towers. I usually blop it down while its getting hit with one tower. I destroy it instantly, and just go aorund 360 wipeing anything in the area.
